These two systems have been the standout systems for mangrove jack over the past couple of weeks. Also, with the fresh in the river at the moment the crabs surely have started to get on the move so be sure to drop some crab pots in. If you’re more into bait fishing using prawns and sprat will surely get you into some action. Hopping soft vibes off the bottom has been getting plenty of the bites.

The Burnett has been producing some very good sized grunter lately. Vertically fast retrieving Flasha Spoons and floating pilchards out the back is a fun and very effective way to catch them. If you’re thinking about chasing a feed of mackerel, I’d be heading down more towards Elliott Heads way to find the clearer water. It seems to have stirred up some late season snapper and plenty of very good sized grunter. The inshore reefs has copped quite a bit of dirty water from the recent rain we’ve had over the past week. As always, check the weather report before heading out. Fingers crossed the weather will play the game. Using pilchards as bait or jigging 5” soft plastics off the bottom is an effective way to get a good feed.

With the big full moon morning tides this weekend I would definitely be fishing the shallows in the mornings for coral trout and red throat emperors. For further information please contact Tackle World Bundaberg on 07 4153 4747 or email 16, 2021 Terms and conditions shall be provided upon registration. Just keep in mind the Tackle World Bundaberg Lake Monduran Fishing Classic, an online comp, is still running up to 15 th December 2021 with heaps of cash and prizes still to be won. Hard body lures such as classic, RML Scorpions and the new Jackall Super Squirrel are also hooking plenty of barra in the basin and around the many timber lines further up Lake Monduran.

The lures can be either cast or slow trolled and have been dynamite with big barra. Hot lures to have this week at Lake Monduran include the Molix RT Shads and Molix 140 swim baits. This impoundment has only risen around 6 inches with the latest rain and the water quality is still very good. Over the month of November, Lake Monduran has been the place to be if you want to catch a big barra. The word is a few mud crabs are on the move as well, so it might be a great chance to put a few pots in this weekend leading up to Christmas. Casting poppers or small metal slugs through these schools is fantastic fun on light gear. There has been good reports of trevally and queenfish in big schools throughout the Baffle. Let’s hope we don’t get too much rain and this action continues towards Christmas. Mangrove jack have finally fired up in the upper reaches of both systems. Anglers that are using soft plastics such as Gulp 4” swimming mullet and Berkley Power Bait 4” Nemesis are really having some fun at the moment. Big grunter up to 72cm are in good numbers right throughout this magic system. The Baffle Creek has been fishing very well.

Down around the mouth some nice flathead and whiting were on the chew around the full moon last week. Mangrove jack and estuary cod are in good numbers up around Sharks Nest and Fallon’s Rocks. The Elliott River did not receive as much rain as other areas and is still fishing very well. On the fishing side of things most of our local rivers except for the Burnett are clean enough to fish and are fishing well. Let’s hope it eases some pressure off our local farmers. Firstly, how good was the rain we had last week in the Bundaberg region! It was awesome to see everything green again.
